Trovato – One Of Cape Town’s Best Kept Suburbs And Secrets

Why Families Are Choosing Trovato Estate: A Hidden Gem in Cape Town’s Southern Suburbs

Tucked away between the sought-after neighbourhoods of Claremont Upper, Wynberg Upper, and Kenilworth Upper, Trovato Estate remains one of Cape Town’s best-kept secrets. This exclusive enclave offers families the perfect balance of space, security, and community — all within easy reach of the city’s finest amenities.

A Location That Works for Modern Living

From Trovato, everything is just around the corner:

  • Premier shopping at Cavendish Square
  • Leading schools, including Wynberg Boys’ High right next door
  • Quick access to the city centre for work
  • Cape Town’s beaches and mountain trails for weekend escapes

It’s a neighbourhood that allows you to spend less time on the road and more time enjoying life with your family.

Security Without the Walls

Trovato Estate is renowned for its discreet yet robust security. With more than 60 surveillance cameras and a professional, 24-hour monitoring team, residents enjoy true peace of mind. What sets it apart is the absence of imposing gates and barriers — ensuring a safe environment without compromising on openness and freedom.

Space to Breathe

Unlike many modern estates where homes are tightly packed, Trovato offers just 56 properties, each set on generous grounds. Here, families enjoy:

  • Expansive gardens and outdoor living spaces
  • Ample room for swimming pools and play areas
  • Spacious homes with multiple bedrooms
  • Secure off-street parking

It’s the kind of space that allows children to grow up outdoors and families to create lasting memories.

A Community That Cares

Residents often describe Trovato as more than just a neighbourhood — it’s a community. Neighbours know and support each other, children play together safely, and families regularly come together for social events. As one resident put it: “We look out for each other here. It feels like a real community.”

A Rich Heritage

Established in 1899 by businessman Jeppe, Trovato Estate is steeped in history. Many of its original homes — elegant, character-filled buildings — still stand today. Owning a property here is not only a lifestyle choice but also a chance to be part of Cape Town’s architectural heritage.

Strong Value Proposition

In a city where property values continue to rise, Trovato Estate represents exceptional value. With its unique combination of safety, space, history, and community, homes here remain highly desirable and rarely stay on the market for long.

Currently, two homes are available — a rare opportunity for families looking to secure a place in this special enclave.

Why Trovato Estate?

  • Safe: Advanced security without feeling shut in
  • Spacious: Large homes and gardens ideal for family living
  • Connected: Close to schools, shops, and workplaces
  • Community: Neighbours who truly care
  • Historic: Homes with character and charm
  • Smart Investment: Long-term value in a sought-after area

Transcribed Audio elements: We’re at the junction of Herschel Walk and Lovers Walk in Cape Town, Southern Suburbs. Today, this point of the Southern Suburbs serves as the meeting point of three of Cape Town’s most sought-after Suburbs. That being Claremont Upper Wynberg Upper, and Kenilworth Upper.

It is also the entrance to Wynberg Boys’ High School, the second-oldest school in South Africa. Trovato Estate falls under Wynberg Upper, and today we thought we’d shed some light on the benefits of living in such a sought-after area of Cape Town’s beautiful southern suburbs.

With the proliferation of security estates within Cape Town’s southern suburbs, it is becoming increasingly unaffordable to be able to buy into a security estate. And if you are able to buy into a security estate, you are sacrificing on the size of the home, earth, and what’s under the roof.

There’s a network of over 60 cameras already established in Upper Trovato, and those cameras are monitored off-site by a specialist provider who feeds back any incidences to the security hut here. And that gives you ultimate security. As a resident of the Upper Trovato pocket, which comprises around 56 properties, we technically call Sani Mtendeini.

We are proud to be members of ADT. We’re on Trovato Street. We are proud to work here and we support the 21st of every one at night. We are very available there. Trovato has a really rich history dating back to the late 19th century.

And that comes from Trovato House, the namesake of the suburb. The Trovato manor house was built in 1899. That was built and commissioned for Jeppe, an aristocrat of the day. And you can see how the suburb has morphed and developed during the 1900s around that manor house.

The second lesser-known Manor house in the area is Hawthorndan. And again, it’s another reason why we absolutely love working in this area is just the opportunity to lay eyes on properties that have been around for 150 years is an extraordinary thing.

It really is. To know that these properties will be here for another 150 years is absolutely mind-blowing and all in their original architecture. If that video persuaded you enough about the suburb, you’re in luck. We have two listings within the Trovato area that I’ll post the links to within this video.
